Free broadband for community groups

The closing date for community groups in the UK to apply for free broadband is fast approaching.

Groups working in deprived areas helping to improve people’s ICT skills have until 15 September to apply for a year’s free broadband.

It’s thanks to BT’s re-launched Community Connections award scheme - helping people get online. The scheme supports a diverse range of community and charitable groups across the UK.
Benefit

BT Group education and digital inclusion manager Simon Paul said: “Priority will be given to community groups that operate in areas of deprivation, and those that have not previously won an award. Applications are welcomed from a diverse range of community organisations and charity groups.

“Although BT employees are unable to apply, if you know of a community group or volunteer at a group who you think could benefit from free broadband then please let them know about the scheme.”

The scheme is part of BT’s Get IT Together campaign, which is helping more than 100,000 people to get online to deliver on the company’s Race Online 2012 pledge.
