Consultation on the future services for 13-19 year olds

An event was held on 28 June at Canberra youth development centre in Melksham to get people’s input into the future of services for 13 – 19 year olds.  Participants discussed the priorities for young people’s services with the most popular being ‘helping young people to do better at school and college’ and ‘helping young people move into employment and training’.
The strategy, which is currently out for consultation, also includes suggestions for changes to youth services in light of reduced public spending.  The four suggestions were discussed by participants who noted their thoughts about the advantages and disadvantages to the different ways of providing youth services.  Changes to youth services resulting from the strategy are due in time for next financial year.

The consultation is still open and comments are welcomed until 5 August 2011.  The consultation document can been seen online by clicking here.  Photos from this event are now also available online
